Blizzard cracks down on battleground cheaters

Written by damiende on January 13, 2008 – 8:50 pm

Recently cheaters has appeared on the official forums and complained about getting a temporarily  suspension for going afk in battlegrounds.  I have to say I enjoy the fact that they lose honor and items gained from honor.

Some people might argue that its kinda harsh to punish afk cheaters with a suspension and even a ban. And it might be a bit harsh to ban someone permanently. At least they should give them a temporarily suspension first. Players getting suspended is also affecting other players, some of these players might lose out on raiding and stuff like that. So my guess is that in near future we will see a bunch of cheaters that are getting kicked out of their guilds.

The spam in Ironforge the other night was intense. It looks like the goldspammers are taking turns creating accounts and start spamming. Its getting really annoying at times and I wish that they will be slapped hard with a class action lawsuit. I did a little checking on the website they advertise for. And it’s registered in China. When you register a domain you have to give up your real name and address and failure to do so is enough to lose the domain and hosting.  Its tempting to contact the hosting company and tell them about whats going on. Who knows maybe they will do something even if they are Chinese.

All I know is that Blizzard will have to do something soon to stop the spammers. If it gets worse then its  now people will get seriously mad. Yesterday it was so bad that as soon as I reported one spammer another one started up. If things are going to be like that in the future lots of angry players will report these morons. And even quit like players did in Ffxi when the rmt problem got to bad.

My time in Azeroth is spent doing quests in Blades Edge Mountains and doing some battlegrounds. I even took a trip to Area 52 to finish a quest. I have one week left before I start working again and my goal is to get to at least level 69 before that.

Until next time

Goldseller spam has increased

Written by damiende on January 5, 2008 – 8:03 pm

Every time I go to Ironforge goldsellers spam their messages. I like most others report them as spam. So their messages are blocked to us. But why cant Blizzard make it so that if some one gets reported for spam by more then 10 players. They will be muted totally they have no way of communicating until Blizzard checks their logs and see what happened. Abusing this will of course lead to a banned account.

I also wonder if Blizzard blocks their Ip address. I know that its easy to get around it but face it there are only that many proxy’s you can use.  Giving them a really hard time is the way to go. The more time they have to spend setting up things the less money they will make.  And if they have to spend to much time they will leave the game alone.

I hope that a serious investigation by either the FBI or some other agency like that will happen one day. I am sure that they will find lots of dirt. The things I am certain goes on within the rmt industry is these.

Creditcard fraud

Hacking of accounts

Tax evasion

As you can see its a dirty business. And I hope the law will take a close look at it soon.

Until next time
