Goldseller spam has increased
Written by damiende on January 5, 2008 – 8:03 pmEvery time I go to Ironforge goldsellers spam their messages. I like most others report them as spam. So their messages are blocked to us. But why cant Blizzard make it so that if some one gets reported for spam by more then 10 players. They will be muted totally they have no way of communicating until Blizzard checks their logs and see what happened. Abusing this will of course lead to a banned account.
I also wonder if Blizzard blocks their Ip address. I know that its easy to get around it but face it there are only that many proxy’s you can use. Giving them a really hard time is the way to go. The more time they have to spend setting up things the less money they will make. And if they have to spend to much time they will leave the game alone.
I hope that a serious investigation by either the FBI or some other agency like that will happen one day. I am sure that they will find lots of dirt. The things I am certain goes on within the rmt industry is these.
Creditcard fraud
Hacking of accounts
Tax evasion
As you can see its a dirty business. And I hope the law will take a close look at it soon.
Until next time

Hey man I totally agree with you. Seems selling gold has really become a large and profitable market for the Chinese. It sure is annoying tho. I’m Derps in the armory, also Derpy and mygankstaz

It’s some new sites that are popping up and their spamming is worse then it was before. Well I hope that they will be taken care of sooner then later. It’s getting annoying using the AH in Ironforge these days.

You can’t block the IP address. The main reason for this is you won’t be blocking just the spammer.
The reason for this is your IP address that is shown to other is not yours, but is my ISP IP. http://www.ip-adress.com/
If my IP were block anyone who uses SBC as their ISP in my area would also be blocked.

No wonder they sell gold.
Personally I would suggest an autoignore feature so once you turn level 20 its automaticly enabled.
This will prevent any trial account with char less than level 10 from contacting you.
Benefit:
1: If your friend decides to try to play wow with you you simply turn it off and you can add him to your friends list which ofcouse overrules the autoignore.
2: Goldspammers which typicaly just makes a trial char level 1 and spams away wont ever reach you or any higher chars at all.
3: When you make a new char you can still group up with people using trial accounts for making group quests such as “Hogger” since the filter wont be on for the new char yet.
4: If you dont plan on doing any group quests when having a new char you just turn it on.
5: only paid accounts wont be included by the autoignore feature.
6: trial accounts dont have an actual need to contact higher level chars so they wont really feel any diffrence.

Another solution would be to put every trial players in either a area of their own with no means of communicating outside this area.
Or let them have their own servers.
