Why are they bothering?

Written by damiende on January 27, 2008 – 1:37 pm

As some of you have noticed I recently had a case of bad spamming.

Why do they even bother every comment has to be approved by me and it takes me just a few seconds to delete childish comments.  This time around I knew who was behind it and where he/she came from, thats why I approved those comments. I did it so that my other readers could see some people would do. The irony is that the only thing that came out of it was that they put Allakhazam in a bad light.  Hell they even pretended to be the founder of Allakhazam while posting various childish comments. I even got a sms telling me that Allakhazam rulz and that my blog would get hacked.

What do I make of all this, first and foremost that my blog has struck a nerve. And that just makes me more determined to keep on blogging. I still post over at Allakhazam and will keep on doing so just for fun. Gotta love a place where the members are the moderators.

If some of you get a serious case of spamming I would advice you to just delete the spam. Unless it gets personal and you know where the poster comes from. Then you should approve their comments for a little while so others can see how they behave. If you know the forum he/she comes from say so. And if you do know their identity on the forum he/she comes from tell them that if they don’t stop you will publish it.

And of course you should behave at your best. Never scoop to their level.

Until next time

I had some fun with some account sellers

Written by damiende on January 19, 2008 – 12:02 pm

From time to time I have fun with account sellers and other cheaters. Its fun to report account sellers to qxl and ebay. Its also fun to report the morons that give out the names of their characters to Blizzard.  Below is a list of the various things I have done this weekend.

6 accounts reported to Blizzard

1 player reported for suspicion of using some sort of hacking

9 auctions removed

0 goldspammers reported for spamming.

In between all this I have also managed to do some serious playing.  Did two group quests in Gruuls lair and a few others in Blades Edge mountains. Getting closer and closer to level 69. I am home from work until Tuesday so I will reach level 69 by then.

It will be exiting to start working again we have opened a new store and there is quite a bit of things to learn. There is a new cash register and lots of new merchandise to sell.  On the opening day we sold for the same as a bad week in the old store. So things a looking bright for the new store.

Until next time

Blizzard cracks down on battleground cheaters

Written by damiende on January 13, 2008 – 8:50 pm

Recently cheaters has appeared on the official forums and complained about getting a temporarily  suspension for going afk in battlegrounds.  I have to say I enjoy the fact that they lose honor and items gained from honor.

Some people might argue that its kinda harsh to punish afk cheaters with a suspension and even a ban. And it might be a bit harsh to ban someone permanently. At least they should give them a temporarily suspension first. Players getting suspended is also affecting other players, some of these players might lose out on raiding and stuff like that. So my guess is that in near future we will see a bunch of cheaters that are getting kicked out of their guilds.

The spam in Ironforge the other night was intense. It looks like the goldspammers are taking turns creating accounts and start spamming. Its getting really annoying at times and I wish that they will be slapped hard with a class action lawsuit. I did a little checking on the website they advertise for. And it’s registered in China. When you register a domain you have to give up your real name and address and failure to do so is enough to lose the domain and hosting.  Its tempting to contact the hosting company and tell them about whats going on. Who knows maybe they will do something even if they are Chinese.

All I know is that Blizzard will have to do something soon to stop the spammers. If it gets worse then its  now people will get seriously mad. Yesterday it was so bad that as soon as I reported one spammer another one started up. If things are going to be like that in the future lots of angry players will report these morons. And even quit like players did in Ffxi when the rmt problem got to bad.

My time in Azeroth is spent doing quests in Blades Edge Mountains and doing some battlegrounds. I even took a trip to Area 52 to finish a quest. I have one week left before I start working again and my goal is to get to at least level 69 before that.

Until next time

Word of advice to spammers

Written by damiende on January 8, 2008 – 6:11 pm

To whomever you are from Allakhazam. I will post every stupid comment you make. And I will make sure that everyone that comes here knows you are a part of the allakhazam community. Don’t even think that you are giving me a hard time it takes me less then a minute to approve your spamming.

I have also sent your ip address to the moderators at Allakhazam.  Guess it will be for nothing since I am sure that Allakhazam enjoys this kinda behaviour.

Until next time

Level 68 at last

Written by damiende on January 7, 2008 – 6:59 pm

Today I finally hit level 68 with my warrior Damiende actually it went pretty quick I didn’t take more then a week. I have spent lots of time in Blades Edge Mountains doing various quests. And I still have a few to do.

I usually quest alone but if someone is looking for help with some quest I am on. I will join them it usually saves quite a bit of gold in repairs. My goal now is to clear out most of the quests in Blades Edge Mountain. I will also keep on raising my reputation. I will take another trip to Winterspring to do some quests and keep on raising my reputation there. I will also work on raising my reputation with Argent Dawn. I am also going to take a break from leveling because I need some more gold for my new gear. So for the rest of the week I will focus mostly on raising reputation and maybe do an instance or two. Getting herbs is an easy way to get some quick gold. And maybe spend a few hours fishing for winter squid.

I have a suggestion to put a dent in the rmt business. If Blizzard made it so that when a goldseller is reported for spam by 5 different players, they will be muted.  This will put a dent in their advertising. The fools over at allakhazam shot it down as usual. But thats the way it has always been over there.

Until next time

Goldseller spam has increased

Written by damiende on January 5, 2008 – 8:03 pm

Every time I go to Ironforge goldsellers spam their messages. I like most others report them as spam. So their messages are blocked to us. But why cant Blizzard make it so that if some one gets reported for spam by more then 10 players. They will be muted totally they have no way of communicating until Blizzard checks their logs and see what happened. Abusing this will of course lead to a banned account.

I also wonder if Blizzard blocks their Ip address. I know that its easy to get around it but face it there are only that many proxy’s you can use.  Giving them a really hard time is the way to go. The more time they have to spend setting up things the less money they will make.  And if they have to spend to much time they will leave the game alone.

I hope that a serious investigation by either the FBI or some other agency like that will happen one day. I am sure that they will find lots of dirt. The things I am certain goes on within the rmt industry is these.

Creditcard fraud

Hacking of accounts

Tax evasion

As you can see its a dirty business. And I hope the law will take a close look at it soon.

Until next time

I have said this for a long long time

Written by damiende on January 1, 2008 – 9:52 am

Ever since I heard the word rmt mentioned in Ffxi. I knew they were involved with various crimes.

And the latest hackings in Ffxi has just proved this. It has proved that those dealing with rmt isn’t afraid to break a few laws to gain what they want. And with players that doesn’t care about these things until they are getting hacked or otherwise affected. The ongoing lawsuits proves that things are about to change. 2008 might be the year where things are changing big times. Either positively or negatively you never know when it comes to law and judges.

This blog will still work as it has in the last year. And I hope you will still keep on reading my various ramblings.

Until next time
