Interview with a goldbuyer.
Written by damiende on September 2, 2007 – 4:23 pmThis is an interview I did with a goldbuyer. For various reasons we can call him Apu.
1
Can you tell us a little bit about the various online games you have
played.
First MMORPG i played was Eve Online, was quite easy at first but after i had been away for a while they’d changed much of the game mechanics, you couldnt use a certain type of missiles if you didnt have 10 subskills for it, and that ruined much of the game for me.
A few weeks later i read that Anarchy online would be released free of charge for a year and i decided to try it out, all in all i thought it was a good game at first, but then i chose the wrong place to go to after the so-called “noob-island” and i ended up fighting monsters 10-15 levels higher than me. So i decided to quit playing.
Then a friend introduced me to World of Warcraft, i was hooked immiediately and actually quit my job to play it (which looking back on it now was a stupid thing to do) I got to lvl 60, which was the highest level you could reach before The Burning Crusade and everything just felt like a huge grind. even more so in The Burning Crusade at level 70.
I met some people i became good friends with on wow and i even managed to get some of my friends to play it. Sometimes i did become increasingly bored with WoW though and i logged on sometimes just to talk with friends. Earlier this year, about 1&1/2 months after TBC was released and i had made it to level 70 i decided to quit it. and i managed to not play wow for roughly 3 months when the friend that had introduced me to it wanted to use my character for himself, i agreed and he reactivated my account again. And let me play on it whenever i wanted. As im writing this i’m considering quitting WoW again and rather do something else with my time.
2
How much time do you spend playing games each day?
I’d say more than 4 hours each day.
3
When did you start thinking about buying currency ?
I think it was sometime last year while i was raiding.
4
Why did you start thinking about buying ?
I spent a good 30-50g every week i was raiding and i couldnt farm that amount in the offdays when i was working.
5
How many times did you purchase gold ?
4 times for myself and 3 times for some of my friends.
6
How much gold did you purchase?
1000g 2000g 2500g and finaly 5000g
7
Have you cheated besides buying currency ?
I have but not in MMORPG’s. I used a Wallhack on Counter-Strike a couple of years ago.
8
Where you afraid of getting busted ?
No.
9
Would you buy currency again ?
Once i get money, definately.
10
What would you say to those who call you a cheater?
They can say whatever they want to me, i don’t care one way or the other.
This concludes the first interview. In the future I will post some more interviews, I have a few lined up in the next few weeks.
Until next time

Back when i played Everquest 1 i bought plat once. I started Eq a light before plane of power, i got up to pretty quickly and wanted to start raiding the planes. But the only way for a tank to do that would be to have a nice haste items and a few other thing. So i bought some plat to buy thous things because it would have honestly taken me over a year to get the plat to buy those thing.
None of the other MMO’s i have played have i ever had the need to buy gold.
